When It Hurts To Love...

"As a woman with child is in pain and cries out in her pangs, when she draws near the time of her delivery, so have we been in Your sight, O Lord." - Isaiah 26:17 (NKJV)

LOVE... It's much more than a simple word, and much more than an action. It's the ultimate reason God chose to send His Son to earth, to bear the cross for the sins of, and to redeem His most precious creation... Man.

LOVE is the very foundation of Christianity... It is written, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes on Him should not perish, but shall have everlasting life." - John 3:16

LOVE is the greatest gift God could have ever given us, for by love, we may obtain everlasting life, we may be One with Him in Spirit, and live out all eternity with our Father in Heaven.

LOVE can also be the heaviest cross one carries, concerning our heartfelt feelings and emotions for one another... When this adverse effect of love takes place, it's in the midst of our compassion, positive hopes and desires for one another, that we often endure the most pain... We express a pure, unconditional, forgiving, agape love, that is often not recompensed, not embraced, and seldom returned by whom we express or render it to. We instead become the person who's watched, taken advantage of, mistrusted, and left with bearing a heart full of love that seems to lie dormant, unwittingly rejected by the objects of our affection... I ask that you be not dismayed... "

LOVE is a many splendored thing," as the saying goes. The Apostle Paul once penned that, "Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance." -1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (NLT)

I urge that we continue to love... However, we must not continue to allow our hearts to be toyed with, neither place ourselves in unwanted, poor relationships for the sake of not being alone... God knows, and He cares. It hurts to let go of the one's we love... Yet after a while, because it also takes time, we realize that it's even more painful to hold onto hopelessness.

Consider Jesus... He knew no sin, did no wrong, He simply loved, yet He painfully endured rejection, lies, being spat upon, beaten, battered and bruised... because He loved us... SOMETIMES, IT HURTS TO LOVE.

"And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away." - Revelation 21:4 ... Love hurts. Just ask Jesus.
