Amazingly, yet not surprisingly, it's something how some believers, Christians, "church people," become offended by, or biased against the written Word, the scripture. Let me be clear, I'm not referring to the the Pastor's sermon as a whole, his commentary, neither his points made in delivering his message, but simply to the scripture alone. I've noticed people get up and walk out church at any given time when certain scriptures are read. Namely those which refer to adultery, tithing/giving, the love of money, and nowadays especially sexual immorality/inordinate affection,, (homosexuality/lesbianism,) being an abomination unto God. Now it's one thing if the minister/speaker just outright condemns everybody to hell every week of his own volition, and quite another to preach the written Word, the Truth of the Gospel, the Good News of Salvation, that we've all sinned and come short of the glory of God, yet there is hope. That "The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way. THOUGH HE FALL, HE SHALL NOT BE UTTERLY CAST DOWN; For the Lord upholds him with His hand." That once we're saved and put on Christ, we're new creatures, that we're given a clean slate every day, "for the Lord's tender mercies are new every morning," That "there is no temptation that has overtaken you... that God has not already provided a way of escape." That there's forgiveness, there's mercy, there's grace, that "there is now therefore NO CONDEMNATION such as to THOSE WHO ARE IN CHRIST JESUS, WHO WALK NOT AFTER THE FLESH, BUT AFTER THE SPIRIT."... The God's honest truth, according to scripture, is that WE MUST RESIST the devil. WE MUST bring the flesh under subjection. WE CANNOT continue to dwell, live & daily wallow in blatant sin, clearly doing the opposite of what the Word says, and keep asking God to forgive us everyday. It's written that the people of Sodom & Gomorrah did MANY wicked things aside from same-sex relations & sex with animals, and for that cause God gave them over to a reprobate (sinful, Godless,) mind, and His Word hasn't changed. Just as Jesus Christ, whom is the Word of God, is the same today, yesterday, and forevermore." Is it that we love the things we do more than we love God, because that's what it seems to say to Him. It's like a person saying, "God, I don't care what your Word says, I ain't ready to live right, I ain't ready to submit to you. I don't want your love, peace, joy and abundant overflow of blessings for being obedient. So I'm gonna do what I wanna do, & I'll holla at You later. I love me more than I love You."... Now that my friends is pretty much a bullet train to hell, lest we repent & change our ways. The bottom line is that WE MUST CHANGE, and do our best to live & walk
"Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter. On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’ But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.’" - Matt. 7:21-23 (NLT)... I pray we all make the Right choice.
